Marché du Pont de l’Alma, Paris, France

One of the best and largest open air food markets in Paris is the Marché du Pont de l’Alma. Also known as Marché Président Wilson, it runs along Avenue du Président Wilson from Pont de l’Alma to Trocadéro and is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7am – 2:30pm. While it is technically located in the 16th arrondissement, it also serves the residents of the 7th, right across the Seine on the left bank.

The numerous stalls are filled with beautiful, plump, and colorful fruits and vegetables, greens, nuts, cheeses, charcuterie, fresh fish and seafood, meat and game, flowers, sweets, and of course, freshly baked breads. There are also vendors serving up crepes, pizzas, sandwiches, and other lunch-y items.

On a recent visit to the Marché du Pont de l’Alma, I arrived with my partner in the late morning of a beautiful autumn day. After 40 minutes of strolling and browsing, we purchased some meat, cheese, and bread, and headed over to the Champ de Mars where we enjoyed a lovely picnic beside the Eiffel Tower. The beautiful weather, the delicious food, the incredible view – who could ask for more? It was by far one of the simplest and yet most memorable meals we’ve had in Paris.
